Fall and winter is the best time of the year to garden in South Texas.  The weather is beautiful and cool, and you can grow the greatest amount of your favorite vegetables with minimal pest problems.

Kayla and I invite you to a fall/winter gardening class on Saturday, Oct 1, from 9:00am to 11:30am.  The class will be held at Four String Farm.

The class will focus on:  1) preparing the garden, 2) companion planting to maximize yield and variety, 3) the best way to water the plants, and 4) and how to control pests naturally.  You will learn about growing a wide range of vegetables, herbs, and flowers fit for the season without the use of any chemicals whatsoever.

There is a $20 registration fee for this class, advance registration required.  Children age five and under are welcome at no charge, but must be accompanied by parent.  Please do not bring pets.

Click here to pay $20 now to register for the class.  You will receive more details upon registration.  Registration closes the day before class.  Thank you so much!

Gardeners of all ages and skill levels are welcome.  Even if you have never planted a seed, you will go home with the knowledge to start your own successful garden!

    • Hello Carol! Our next Farm Share begins in Oct, will be protein only. Look for an e-mail about this shortly to sign up. We will have full protein/produce in Nov and going forward. Thank you so much Carol, we miss you!

  2. Justin and Kayla,

    Hello.

I had the chance to meet you a few months ago at Sprouts where we were talking about our recently purchased land in Aransas Pass. I was the guy talking with Justin about my leaf cutter problem.

I got your contact info from Barbara Jeannin. My wife and I purchased her Boar and Sow a couple months ago. It turns out life is taking me in a different direction at work and I will be moving back to Phoenix in the coming weeks. We are currently looking to sell these hogs. I transferred their registration to us and we do have those certificates to transfer to you, if you are interested in them. We also have about 2 cattle panels and a mix of 6 and 6 1/2 foot T-posts available.

We live at the north edge of Aransas Pass, next to the Yamaha boat center if you guys wanted to come look at them. We do not have a livestock trailer though.

Please let me know if these hogs are something you would like to add to your operation.

Thank you and have a great day!

    • Hello Dan! I remember you very well, I hope you are doing great! Congratulations on your move! Yes, we would be interested in those hogs. We are very close to you and have a trailer to pick them up. Can you e-mail me at justinallenbutts@gmail.com and let me know what you are asking for them and when would be a good time to pick them up? Thank you so much, we look forward to seeing you, Justin and Kayla

    • Thanks so much Mark for your help on Sunday! We were so glad to have you and so thankful! We also appreciate the salmon. We already ate it all! Have a great trip back to Alaska!

  3. Justin and Kayla: we enjoyed the class last weekend. Would you forward the paper you said you’d prepared to help gardeners. Thank you. Stella Vargas
